Project will add capacity, capabilities at Tennalum
Kaiser Aluminum is planning a $19-million expansion at its Jackson, TN, aluminum extrusion plant, Tennalum. The project will be completed by the end of 2009, increasing production capacity and expanding capabilities with the addition of a new extrusion press, heat-treating furnace, drawbench, and ancillary equipment.
No equipment contracts were announced for the project.
Kaiser stated that the additional capacity is aimed at meeting anticipated demand for cold-finished rod, bar, and related products.
“Tennalum is a world-class facility that exemplifies Kaiser Aluminum’s Best In Class reputation and provides an excellent platform for expansion,” stated Kaiser chairman and CEO Jack A. Hockema. “By investing in additional growth at the facility, we’ll continue to leverage our technical expertise and a long, proven history as the preferred supplier to our service center, aerospace and other customers with a wide range of high-quality fabricated aluminum products.”
